وَأَسِرُّواْAnd concealقَوْلَكُمْyour speechأَوِorٱجْهَرُواْproclaimبِهِۦٓ‌ۖit.إِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heعَلِيمُۢ(is the) All-Knowerبِذَاتِof what (is in)ٱلصُّدُورِthe breasts.

Ahmed Ali Whether you say a thing secretly or openly, He knows the innermost secrets of your hearts.

Saheeh International And conceal your speech or publicize it; indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

Hamidullah Que vous cachiez votre parole ou la divulguiez Il connaît bien le contenu des poitrines.

أَلَا يَعْلَمُDoes He not know,مَنْ(the One) Whoخَلَقَcreated?وَهُوَAnd Heٱللَّطِيفُ(is) the Subtle,ٱلْخَبِيرُthe All-Aware.

Ahmed Ali Can He who has created not know (His creation)? He is all-penetrating, all-aware.

Saheeh International Does He who created not know, while He is the Subtle, the Acquainted?

Hamidullah Ne connaît-Il pas ce qu'Il a créé alors que c'est Lui le Compatissant, le Parfaitement Connaisseur.

هُوَHeٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoجَعَلَmadeلَكُمُfor youٱلْأَرْضَthe earthذَلُولاًsubservient,فَٱمْشُواْso walkفِىinمَنَاكِبِهَا(the) paths thereofوَكُلُواْand eatمِنofرِّزْقِهِۦ‌ۖHis provision,وَإِلَيْهِand to Himٱلنُّشُورُ(is) the Resurrection.

Ahmed Ali It is He who made the earth subservient to you that you may travel all around it, and eat of things He has provided; and to Him will be your resurrection.

Saheeh International It is He who made the earth tame for you - so walk among its slopes and eat of His provision - and to Him is the resurrection.

Hamidullah C'est Lui qui vous a soumis la terre: parcourez donc ses grandes étendues. Mangez de ce qu'Il vous fournit. Vers Lui est la Résurrection.

أَمْOrأَمِنتُمdo you feel secureمَّن(from Him) Whoفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَآءِthe heaven,أَنnotيُرْسِلَHe will sendعَلَيْكُمْagainst youحَاصِبًا‌ۖa storm of stones?فَسَتَعْلَمُونَThen you would knowكَيْفَhowنَذِيرِ(was) My warning?

Ahmed Ali Or have you become so unafraid that He who is in Heaven will not send a violent wind to shower stones at you? Then you will know the import of My commination!

Saheeh International Or do you feel secure that He who [holds authority] in the heaven would not send against you a storm of stones? Then you would know how [severe] was My warning.

Hamidullah Ou êtes-vous à l'abri que Celui qui est au ciel envoie contre vous un ouragan de pierres? Vous saurez ainsi quel fut Mon avertissement.

وَلَقَدْAnd indeed,كَذَّبَdeniedٱلَّذِينَthoseمِن قَبْلِهِمْbefore them,فَكَيْفَand howكَانَwasنَكِيرِMy rejection.

Ahmed Ali Those before them had also denied. And how was My punishment then!

Saheeh International And already had those before them denied, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

Hamidullah En effet, ceux d'avant eux avaient crié au mensonge. Quelle fut alors Ma réprobation!

أَوَلَمْDo notيَرَوْاْthey seeإِلَى[to]ٱلطَّيْرِthe birdsفَوْقَهُمْabove themصَـٰٓفَّـٰتٍspreading (their wings)وَيَقْبِضْنَ‌ۚand folding?مَاNotيُمْسِكُهُنَّholds themإِلَّاexceptٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ‌ۚthe Most Gracious.إِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heبِكُلِّ(is) of everyشَىْءِۭthingبَصِيرٌAll-Seer.

Ahmed Ali Do they not see the birds above them flying wings spread out or folded? Nothing holds them aloft but God. All things are within His purview.

Saheeh International Do they not see the birds above them with wings outspread and [sometimes] folded in? None holds them [aloft] except the Most Merciful. Indeed He is, of all things, Seeing.

Hamidullah N'ont-ils pas vu les oiseaux au-dessus d'eux, déployant et repliant leurs ailes tour à tour? Seul le Tout Miséricordieux les soutient. Car Il est sur toute chose, Clairvoyant.

أَمَّنْWho isهَـٰذَاthis,ٱلَّذِىthe one,هُوَheجُندٌ(is) an armyلَّكُمْfor youيَنصُرُكُمto help youمِّن دُونِbesidesٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ‌ۚthe Most Gracious?إِنِNotٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ(are) the disbelieversإِلَّاbutفِىinغُرُورٍdelusion.

Ahmed Ali What other army do you have to help you apart from Ar-Rahman? The unbelievers are surely lost in delusion.

Saheeh International Or who is it that could be an army for you to aid you other than the Most Merciful? The disbelievers are not but in delusion.

Hamidullah Quel est celui qui constituerait pour vous une armée [capable] de vous secourir, en dehors du Tout Miséricordieux? En vérité les mécréants sont dans l'illusion complète.

أَمَّنْWho isهَـٰذَاthis,ٱلَّذِىthe one,يَرْزُقُكُمْto provide youإِنْifأَمْسَكَHe withheldرِزْقَهُۥ‌ۚHis provision.بَلNay,لَّجُّواْthey persistفِىinعُتُوٍّprideوَنُفُورٍand aversion.

Ahmed Ali Who is there to give you food in case He withholds His bounty? Yet they persist in rebellion and aversion.

Saheeh International Or who is it that could provide for you if He withheld His provision? But they have persisted in insolence and aversion.

Hamidullah Ou quel est celui qui vous donnera votre subsistance s'Il s'arrête de fournir Son attribution? Mais ils persistent dans leur insolence et dans leur répulsion.

أَفَمَنThen is he whoيَمْشِىwalksمُكِبًّاfallenعَلَىٰonوَجْهِهِۦٓhis faceأَهْدَىٰٓbetter guided,أَمَّنor (he) whoيَمْشِىwalksسَوِيًّاuprightعَلَىٰonصِرَٲطٍ(the) PathمُّسْتَقِيمٍStraight?

Ahmed Ali Will he find the way who grovels flat on his face, or he who walks straight on the right path?

Saheeh International Then is one who walks fallen on his face better guided or one who walks erect on a straight path?

Hamidullah Qui est donc mieux guidé? Celui qui marche face contre terre ou celui qui marche redressé sur un chemin droit.

قُلْSay,هُوَ`Heٱلَّذِىٓ(is) the One Whoأَنشَأَكُمْproduced youوَجَعَلَand madeلَكُمُfor youٱلسَّمْعَthe hearing,وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَand the visionوَٱلْأَفْــِٔدَةَ‌ۖand the feelings.قَلِيلاًLittleمَّا(is) whatتَشْكُرُونَyou give thanks.`

Ahmed Ali Say: "It is He who raised you and gave you ears and eyes and hearts. How little are the thanks you offer!"

Saheeh International Say, "It is He who has produced you and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful."

Hamidullah Dis: «C'est Lui qui vous a créés et vous a donné l'ouïe, les yeux et les cœurs». Mais vous êtes rarement reconnaissants!

قُلْSay,هُوَ`Heٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoذَرَأَكُمْmultiplied youفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَإِلَيْهِand to Himتُحْشَرُونَyou will be gathered.`

Ahmed Ali Say: "It is He who dispersed you all over the earth, and to Him you will be gathered."

Saheeh International Say, "It is He who has multiplied you throughout the earth, and to Him you will be gathered."

Hamidullah Dis: «C'est Lui qui vous a répandus sur la terre, et c'est vers Lui que vous serez rassemblés».

وَيَقُولُونَAnd they say,مَتَىٰ`Whenهَـٰذَا(is) thisٱلْوَعْدُpromise,إِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَـٰدِقِينَtruthful?`

Ahmed Ali But they say: "When will this promise come to pass, if what you say is true?"

Saheeh International And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"

Hamidullah Et ils disent: «A quand cette promesse si vous êtes véridiques?»

قُلْSay,إِنَّمَا`Onlyٱلْعِلْمُthe knowledgeعِندَ(is) withٱللَّهِAllah,وَإِنَّمَآand onlyأَنَا۟I amنَذِيرٌa warnerمُّبِينٌclear.`

Ahmed Ali Say: "God alone has knowledge. My duty is only to warn you clearly."

Saheeh International Say, "The knowledge is only with Allah, and I am only a clear warner."

Hamidullah Dis: «Allah seul [en] a la connaissance. Et moi je ne suis qu'un avertisseur clair».
